Well, I'm still here. Now, I'm faced with the task of finally graduating and becoming a contributing citizen to society. Yes, I am scared, but I got my art to get me through.

Summertime is the best time for experimenting and this summer will be no different. I hope to hone my digital art skills while simultaneously slowly getting back into oils/acrylics. I hope to gain more acceptance of what I really love (and most times prefer to do): digital drawing/painting. Art's been a little frustrating this past year, but I suppose that's part of the appeal. If it was too easy, I'd probably not love it as much as I do. Yet, I find myself feeling a little lost and a little discouraged as I try to find "my groove". Not to worry, I always go through these times, and I'll be back on top of the world when I find something that catches my fancy.

On the flip side, having just returned from a week and a half in London and Paris, I'm feeling very excited about the possibilities of traditional work. It still has a brilliance that is DIFFERENT not lacking in digital work. It doesn't require special machinery to view. It's just up on the wall, there for all to see and it's wonderful! At the same time, it's a little overwhelming and intimidating, but I suppose I'm up for the challenge. It's inspiring and I plan on looking to Dutch artists for a new direction. Those guys really new how to paint!

Well, let me get to it then; and hopefully I'll fill my quiet little corner of DeviantArt with something fantastic soon!Wish me luck.

Going Big

2 min read
So, my advisor asked me to do a bigger piece, and I gladly accepted, being the kind of person up for a challenge (when it comes to art). She gave me this roll of thick watercolor paper and sent me home with ideas already budding in my mind. It was great--I felt like I had started to rediscover the excitement and passion that is supposed to be in art. Well, now I have redrawn one of my sketches and upon finishing the first pass I felt this little flutter of excitement jitter around inside of me. Iplan to go back over with a darker pencil so that it pops, but already I can tell it's gonna look great! I rarely do work this big unless it is required for class, but there is a power and a sense of presence in large work; I've always noticed that about other's work, but I'm beginning to see it now for myself. Well, for anyone reading this, I'm sure you're curious to see what the sketch looks like. Look for Off with Her Head! in my gallery to see this sketch and others.

Don't forget  to keep an eye out for future updates and to check on my blog at www.DreamingAlyce.wordpress.com! So this is Dreaming Alyce signing out. ;)

Well, it seems like I'm in the habit of going long periods of time without posting then I turn around and dump a bunch of stuff online all at once! Sorry about that, folks, but I hope you enjoy none the less. Please make sure to keep your eye on me! =3
